FreeTreeIoT and AI Concept for Early Wildfire Detection

Detect fires earlier, while timely intervention can still make the difference.

This page describes an internal venture concept at an early stage. It is not a developed product, a working prototype or a commercially validated solution. All references to technologies, functions and outcomes are hypotheses to be validated.

The challenge

Wildfires create significant risks for the environment, people, economic activities and buildings located near vulnerable areas. During the summer season, a fire that is not detected promptly can rapidly develop from a contained and manageable event into a complex emergency, with severe environmental, economic and human consequences. Many existing alert systems identify an event when smoke, flames or temperature changes have already become clearly visible. FreeTree starts from the hypothesis that continuous air analysis could help detect signals associated with combustion at an earlier stage.

The product hypothesis

FreeTree is a concept for a distributed early fire-detection system based on environmental sensors installed across high-risk areas. The devices could continuously analyse air quality and detect gases, particulate matter or other environmental variations potentially associated with the early stages of combustion. The collected data could be processed through analytical and artificial-intelligence models, with the goal of distinguishing relevant anomalies from normal environmental variations and generating an alert that supports timely intervention.

Questions to validate

  • ·Which communication technology would provide the necessary coverage, autonomy and reliability?

  • ·Which business model could support installation and ongoing maintenance?

Current stage

FreeTree is currently an internal venture concept developed within Fadelora. No prototype, electronics, software or field testing has yet been completed. The project would require an initial research, scientific-validation and Product Discovery phase to determine whether environmental sensing can provide a sufficiently early and reliable warning.

What it represents for Fadelora

FreeTree illustrates how Fadelora approaches a complex and unresolved problem by analysing the context, defining a product hypothesis and exploring the potential integration of IoT, data, AI and distributed infrastructure. It is not yet a validated product, but an example of how a concrete challenge can be transformed into an innovation direction worth exploring.
